It’s no secret that we had some seriously cold, snowy and blizzardy conditions at the end of February and the beginning of March, but roofers need to work all year round, just like an office or retail worker, so whilst everyone’s been talking about the ‘Beast from the East’, we’ve had a lot of questions as to whether roofing or maintenance can be done in such conditions.

The short answer is yes - dependent on health and safety, it can be done by experienced, professional roofing contractors – however cold temperatures aren’t ideal for roof installation and ice/snow can cause complications.

However, it is very possible that complete roof replacements will not be undertaken by some roofing contractors in cold conditions, as the conditions may not be practical to complete a successful installation. Colder weather also brings the dangers of slippery surfaces and ice/snow may cause additional complications in accessing areas of the roof.

The weather in winter is so unpredictable from one day to the next, so here at MJO Roofing, we strongly recommend that if you have concerns about your roof, you should have it inspected, maintained and repaired by autumn latest, to avoid causing any complications or further damage to your roof in winter. This ensures that your roof can protect you efficiently from the elements when the cold weather and snow comes! Call the MJO Roofing team today on 020 8953 2306 for all of your roofing needs.
